Second reflection of the November month.

 Reflection of the November month

On 4th November 2021 I taught class VI science on the topic “The Light”. This time I used Power Point (PPT) in the lesson development. I projected PPT and I let Children to go through the power point. After reading the ppt I let them to do the activity given in the PPT.

All most all the children could do the activity well.

Teaching through ICT intergradation helps children to keep on the track of what they have learned and what they are learning. By looking at the instructions in the power point, children could do the experiment on their own and they could identify and sort out the objects as transparent, opaque and translucent

Generally I felt that using ICT in the teaching learning process is making a lot of differences in learning in children. Firstly it is saving time for teachers and students as well. Secondly using ICT motivates children in learning. Thirdly, using ICT in the lesson grapes the attention and interest of the children and even low performers in the class shows interest in learning and can do the given activity on their own.

Technology is the argument of our time and major indicators of social progress. The irony in our context is the absence of technology in the classrooms for a generation of students who are exposed to and live in the digital age. To ensure that teachers are not disconnected from their students.

The reflection of the October month.

                                         Reflection of the October month

Class: PP

Subject: English

Topic: Teaching of sounds of the alphabets.

Objectives: By the end of the lesson the child will be able to say the sounds of the alphabets.

On 12th October I taught the sounds of the alphabets to my class PP children. Before I teach them the sounds of the alphabets I pasted the alphabets cards with pictures on the wall so that they will be familiarize with the alphabets. Then I projected them video on how to sound the alphabets.  I did not have to gain their attention since all the children were enjoying watching video attentively and saying the sounds along with video.

After watching the video on how to produce the sounds of the alphabets I let children to say the sounds of the alphabets. Children could catch up the sounds easily by watching at the screened video rather than my real teaching.

The issues and challenges I faced while using ICT in my teaching learning process was I could not finished my lesson on time since I had  to finished the lesson within 40 minutes. The Net was very slow since we have multi users and I had to connect hotspot from my cellphone.

If I weigh the pros and cons of using ICT in the teaching learning process I found more advantages. Using ICT in the teaching learning makes easy to manage the class, minimize the cost, enhance the modes of communication and it is the best method of teaching.

Reflection of the November month.

Reflection of the month of November

On 1st November 2021, I taught Social Studies in class VI.

The topic I taught was The Three spheres of the earth.

The objective was analyzing the roles of the three spheres of the earth in supporting life.

Introduction

In the introduction part I just projected some questions to recap the lesson. I let them to read the

questions shown in the projector for a few minutes. Then I let them to tell the answers one by

one to check whether they are clear with the pas lesson or not.

I projected the questions in projector to save the time and let the children get chance to read all

the questions and get prepared accordingly.

Lesson Development

I introduced the topic to the children for the lesson and I gave them instructions to watch my

video tutorial. I directed them to watch video and I told them that I will let them to write the

 answers in the worksheet provided.

I have used my Video Tutorial in my lesson development. This time I have shown the video

tutorial and let them to watch my video tutorial all together attentively.

Follow up

After finished watching my Video Tutorial I provided them with the worksheet to write down the

answers as I directed them earlier.

After they completed the activity I have given I collected the worksheets and done corrections.

When I corrected their work I found most of them could answer all the questions correctly. So it

shows that using ICT in the teaching learning process is must to save the time, grape the

attention of the children, replace the teacher and motivate children in learning.

It also can use in the absence of the teachers.

Video Tutorial

Subject: Science   class IV Topic: Magnetic and Non-Magnetic Materials

Objectives: By the end of the lesson child should be able to sort/identify collection of materials into magnetic and non-magnetic materials after looking at the video tutorial using magnet.

Introduction: Teacher will collect different materials which are magnetic and non-magnetic and also bring magnet.  Teacher will introduce each material. Then teacher will pick up each material with magnet and let them watch which is magnetic and non-magnetic materials.

Lesson Development

Teacher  showed another group of materials one by one to identify whether magnetic or non-magnetic.

Teacher continues showing the materials.

Activity Direction: children, you are going to collect materials from and around your home and sort them into two groups using magnet like I have shown to you in the video earlier. You can also record in your note book. You can draw two columns, one magnetic and one nonmagnetic to record your findings.

Activity 1: children will collect materials from their home and they will sort/identify them into magnetic and non-magnetic materials using magnet.

Activity II. They will write in their note book after sorting the materials. They can even draw the picture.

With this lesson I have learnt how to make video tutorial. I used Camtasia software. From this lesson I knew how to make lesson in the power point. I am sending my daily lesson when I am on leave so that substitute teacher can use television or interactive board to teach my lesson without any disturbance. IN that way ICT helped our students a lot. In the past we never send the lesson when teachers are on leave but after introduction of Camtasia in our school by some of us, Hereafter our principal instructed all the teachers to send their lesson when they take leave.

With this idea I would like to thank our ICT sir taking us to 21st century teaching. Our king has issued royal kasho mainly to use ICT in learning. So we are using ICT in our school.

Reflection for the month of October

Teaching with integrating ICT has become most appropriate strategy that we as educators should adopt in this twenty first century. When we are not able to show them concept with the available resources around then we can show the concept with ICT. So that concept of the lesson can be understood. We can have everything in the web and whatever we want to know we can the information from the internet. We can prepare the power point presentation to deliver the concept of the lesson.

On 21st October, I taught the mathematic lesson on Concrete Graph for class I. This time I taught this lesson for only one section of class I and rest two section of class I taught this topic without ICT integration. That’s because I wanted to see how far integrating ICT in a lesson is effective for learners.

From my observation I can conclude that classes with ICT integration is more effective to the learners of 21st century. That is because when I compare these classes, section A students enjoyed the lesson more than the section B & C. as well as there is more interaction between the students, when lesson is integrated with ICT. I even observed that the input of the content is more with the students who had their lesson with ICT integration.

So I would like to plan my lessons integrating ICT but every time is not possible because the is less not of projectors in our school as most of the time its occupied by the higher classes. Till then I want to take the opportunity  for my future classes as the learner are more interested to have their lessons with ICT integration as well as its mandatory for NNC to have lesson with ICT integration.

Teaching through Google class:

ICT integrated teaching and learning can be very meaningful and effective. It makes learners more active and participatory in their own learning as well as their boredom is being eradicated. Indeed it is a very ideal method where learners are immensely engaged in the learning activities.

On 13th August 2021, I have taught Science for class V. The topic I taught was “The parts of the plants and its functions”. The ICT based teaching aids used for the lesson were projector and cell phones. For my teaching lesson I have created Google class room and share learning and learning materials through Google class. To create Google class, I let them to create Google Account. For the same I have sent link to their Google account and let them to click on the link to join in the Google class by helping them personally.

After creating Google class, I posted video tutorial on the topic “The parts of the plants and its functions” in the google class room to study how far they can understand my video tutorial lesson. I let them to watch my video tutorial for fifteen minutes and then I projected some questions on my video tutorial.

My observation- All most all the students were very active in learning through Google class. They were very busy in watching my video tutorial in their phone. When I asked questions to them, most of them were able to answer my questions. So in this way I found children were motivated to learn by using ICT. They were very attentive to learn. The class was very silent as children were lost in ICT. Children were suggesting me to do the same in the next lesson also.

While teaching through Google Class I faced some problems because we had a problem in downloading video since we all were using Wi-Fi. Too many users making the net slow. I even had to arrange phones for sharing video tutorial.

My understanding on integrating ICT in our teaching.

Students today are connected through computers, laptops, instant messaging, intranets, Internet, and cell phones. In order to cater to the students' experience with technology, corresponding changes in pedagogy and curriculum should happen (Lee, 2002,p.2). Students in Bhutan are also exposed to technologies like almost any other student in the world.
However the usage of such facilities at primary label in our school are very minimal, this is all because of the low income background of the children's family, lack of resources in school.
Recognizing the important role that education plays in shaping a nation’s future, our visionary Monarchs have always accorded the highest priority to the education sector. Investments in education have equipped our people with the knowledge and skills that have created opportunities for them to contribute to the nation building process. Bhutan has a vision of becoming a knowledge based society; to achieve this vision the education system must address the needs of a rapidly changing world driven by dramatic technological revolution. The purpose of developing the iSherig (Education ICT Master Plan) is to provide a road map to ensure that all our children have equitable access to quality education.

ICT in education is not about technology but teaching. It is the teacher’s innovativeness that makes lesson delivery meaningful. The purpose of integrating ICT is to improve the quality of teaching and learning and to equip learners with 21st century skills.

ICT classrooms are essentially designed to assist the teachers to utilize the class time by encouraging the student to participate in interactive exercises, while enabling them to review lectures at home on a laptop or a computer for revision purposes.

I believe that the development of both teachers' and students' motivation in schools settings is a crux issue that we must cope with in our educational practice. In doing so, we cannot skip to using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s) in the learning process. Some of the advantages of integrating ICT in our teaching are:

·         Easy student management.

·         Better teaching and learning methods.

·         Interactive and collaborative teaching and learning methods.

·         Independent learning platforms for students.

·         Teachers can teach better with images, videos, and graphics while delivering lessons.

·         Educators can create engaging, interesting and well-designed classroom activities.
